Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is the science and technology arm of the Air Force and the new Space Force. We have five main locations around the country, and New Mexico is our second-largest location, with about 2000 staff members working mostly on Kirtland Air Force Base. Here in New Mexico AFRL focuses on technology for space systems which includes satellites and software, and technology for directed energy, which includes lasers and high-power microwaves.
